Sunday Oct 26
Those inclined are welcome to meet at 1 PM at Tra Amici cafe on 76 Ave and 112 St. (Hint: dress warm!)
I won't be there as I am off to Red Deer for the CVMG Central Alberta Fall Swap Meet. Ostensibly I am looking for Vespa and Ducati single parts but really I have nothing in particular in mind, just curious -- fortunately I am not a cat. Still, the chances of coming home with something wildly inappropriate are much higher than if I didn't go.

They just got a pallet of San-Benedeto ice tea in. Bought 36 bottles of it this afternoon. Great stuff. Used it to wash down one of their spicy subs while I was watching the football game tonite. Only got to watch the first quarter though. Looked like a close game.Angelo wrote:I'm passing. Time to stock up at the Italian center shop. Lets see, 1 case of plum tomatoes, 1 case of Olive oil, 1 case of Chinotto, I case of Figs, etc.....I guess winter is just around the corner?

Vy is it vee get too soon olt and too late schmart?
Thanks for the tip. BTW you lie! The Tea probably sprayed out of your nose everytime that the riders scored another point, which means you must have looked like a fire hose most of the night....coyoteran wrote:They just got a pallet of San-Benedeto ice tea in. It was great to see Dale again. He and I toured the tables -- probably the second time for him. He is a great sport. 80% was Harley related with even the Hell's Angels having a booth. They probably make more money selling clothing and nicknacks than drugs.
I bought one book (Norton Singles), two patches (Modern Suede was there), another handlebar to try on the Suzuki and a pair of NOS Tomaselli grips.
Janet is much relived!
I saw a Harley flat head engine for sale but it was already gone. I have this notion to build a cafe racer (yes another) with a Harley flat head engine in a Norton featherbed frame. Then I could call it a "Nortley Flatvidnson."
I am not joking. It would not be particularly fast but very, very cool.
$3500 for the engine alone made Janet very, very cool to the idea, too.
A few Honda 50/90s for sale and an odd ball Czech bike that apparently Eatons sold through their catalogs.
The best part was finally meeting Wolfgang Haeter, a Laverda specialist form Nakusp B.C. Nice chap and lots of shiny bits and bobs.
All in all an interesting time

Those old ladies are tougher than they look. The ice tea is yet another vice I brought back from Italy, the first time I was there in 97. Char cannot find a reasonable substitute for it so every time we see it we load up the trunk.Angelo wrote:I had to fight off an old woman for the last 12 pack (she should be ok) but I agree they are pretty darn good... :shockThey just got a pallet of San-Benedeto ice tea in
And yeah, I did watch the entire game. 55 - 9...wow. Just wow.

Sounds like an interesting trip. I think that any cafe racer that you would build would be outstanding.
You forgot to mention something though!
Yes ,John found an SRX for me to torture myself over (don't get me wrong I appreciate you letting me know). I have been communicating with the chap, but I'm not sure where this will go. I have even considered selling one of my Lambretta's in order to obtain my first Bike. I'm also pricing out murphy beds for the garage, the comfort level of a hammock, how long it takes to cook a meal with a portable electric grill, how much it costs to shower at a truck stop, and how many times I could wash my laundry at the neighbors before they stop answering the door. This is not an easy decision. You know what they say about your first love!? and she (SRX) was my first love...........If i walk away from this one. I may never look for another again.
