No curbs, lamp posts or other drivers texting combined with lots of run off and, most importantly, rain make this less scary than it looks. The lower traction available in the rain reduces the shock of regaining traction after a slide. This means less chance of a high side. The same slide in the dry would mean instant high side without very precise throttle control.

In the days of 500cc two stroke MotoGP, high sides were very common as it was very hard to modulate the throttle what with the all or nothing outputs of racing two strokes. When they got it right it was spectacular with the rider laying a strip of black all around the corner.

You should have seen James and I yesterday as we were sliding towards the curb with the rig all sideways: a wee bit nip and tuck. Man I have to find me some winter tires!
