This was my uncle. He had ridden for about 50 years before this happened on sunday.

You can never be too good, know to much, be too experienced or be too sure of your environment when other people occupy it.

ps...Harold has dodged several bullets from the motorcycle gods in the past, some of them self fired so I suppose it was only a matter of time before his reflexes just got too slow to dodge. Still, a good guy, but flawed. I don't think his ultimate demise would have surprised him in the least.
