Make sure you check out Hammond Beat Records, a label that specializes in new Soul, Groove and Boogaloo bands.

I especially love The Dansettes and The Nick Rossi Set

i know that they're not 60s soul...and ig may have told you about them already, but we saw this band called mother mother in the soo on our trip and they blew us out of the water. here's their myspace page:

ahhh...jeff. can't get enough of those masterbation jokes. to be fair though, i think ig also has frequent flyer miles on e-porn airlines.

on that note, you should see a movie called shortbus. apparently the opening scene is awesome...awesome and horrifying. i heard it described as "a train wreck...you just couldn't look away..."

I have the Bravery's first two albums...They're very similar to The Killers (same label, too) They've got that sort of dancey indie pop sound. Not spectacular as far as lyrics or anything go, but certainly a fun band to listen to. If you want copies of their stuff to check out, just let me know.

OK so spring is in the air and the music is on the ipods, Cds ect That got me thinking what your top ten songs of all time top five albums top three artists and why. Lets have some fun Top Three bands The Jam because I seen then two times I can remember picking up a copy of all mod cons on 33 record and playing it some thing about vinle. and the liner notes. Jackie Wilson he is just so soulful the mans a God. I really like the sound of oasis. I don't care for all there bull shit but they have a great sound. So there you have it. only my top ten singles and top five albums to go. Next time Dave ps we need a spell check lol

These lists are always hard, but that's mostly how it goes. I like a lot of different stuff, from country to punk to RAC to reggae (and a weeee bit of gangsta rap). Dave, the Jam rules... Did you ever see Our Mercury when they were playing around town? They rocked a pretty great cover of Town Called Malice.
I got All Mod Cons on CD about 8 years ago in Asahikawa Japan... Took some getting into (I pretty much was listening to nothing but Oi and a bit of reggae at the time), but I do love it now.
