Make sure you check out Hammond Beat Records, a label that specializes in new Soul, Groove and Boogaloo bands.

I especially love The Dansettes and The Nick Rossi Set 8)

ahhh...jeff. can't get enough of those masterbation jokes. to be fair though, i think ig also has frequent flyer miles on e-porn airlines.

on that note, you should see a movie called shortbus. apparently the opening scene is awesome...awesome and horrifying. i heard it described as "a train wreck...you just couldn't look away..."

Much like the entire movie of Hedwig and the angry inch. No surprise that John Cameron Mitchel was the brains behind both of them.

Keep the polished side up all.

I have to plug calgarysoul.com
Click on DJ Rob Faust who played this year's Apocalypse Rally at the Bamboo and made our ghetto-blaxploytation CD.
Also Sidshow Sid is a Heineken swilling all round good DJ.

Any one hear of a band out of New York called "The bravery"?
I saw them on the Leno show last week and they were pretty darn good...

I have the Bravery's first two albums...They're very similar to The Killers (same label, too) They've got that sort of dancey indie pop sound. Not spectacular as far as lyrics or anything go, but certainly a fun band to listen to. If you want copies of their stuff to check out, just let me know.
All hail Emperor Kang!

Lets have some fun Top Three bands The Jam because I seen then two times I can remember picking up a copy of all mod cons on 33 record and playing it some thing about vinle. and the liner notes. Jackie Wilson he is just so soulful the mans a God. I really like the sound of oasis. I don't care for all there bull shit but they have a great sound. So there you have it. only my top ten singles and top five albums to go. Next time Dave ps we need a spell check lol

It's my first post and of course, it's music-related.

ten songs:

Sunday Morning Coming Down- Johnny Cash
Mama Tried- Merle Haggard
Lost Highway- Hank Williams
Heaven Help Us All- Stevie Wonder
Fighting In The Street- Cockney Rejects
A Town Called Malice- The Jam
Tough Guys- Cock Sparrer
A Case of Pride- Skrewdriver
Rise Above- Black Flag
Big Iron- Marty Robbins

five albums:
Johnny Cash With His Hot & Blue Guitar
Boots & Braces/ Voice of Britain- 'Driver
Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs- Marty Robbins
Doggystyle- Snoop (back when he was Snoop Doggy Dogg)
Let's Get It On- Marvin Gaye

Three artists, it is absolutely unquestionably Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Hank Williams.

Bands, though... Probably Skrewdriver, Cockney Rejects and Cock Sparrer

These lists are always hard, but that's mostly how it goes. I like a lot of different stuff, from country to punk to RAC to reggae (and a weeee bit of gangsta rap). Dave, the Jam rules... Did you ever see Our Mercury when they were playing around town? They rocked a pretty great cover of Town Called Malice.
I got All Mod Cons on CD about 8 years ago in Asahikawa Japan... Took some getting into (I pretty much was listening to nothing but Oi and a bit of reggae at the time), but I do love it now.
