Oil chain tensioner lost it's rubber pad and it was howling like a banshee. We were relieved to find it was just the tensioner as these engines are VERY expensive to overhaul. While we are in there, we'll also change all the chains.

Popped the oil pump chain off and removed the tensioner. When the rubber pad came off the plunger almost fully extended and cocked slightly to the side, jamming itself into its bore:

If it hadn't done that, and plunger escaped its bore, it would have quickly toasted a $30K engine.

Sigh, waiting for parts on the Aston so I had to work on both a Lotus and a Porsche. Somebody put me out of my misery!
