What do you think of this colour?

I think it is pretty close to the dark blue...

(The car is sweet too!)

Both colour and car are ultra-boss. Even better colour than those other blues.

One final kick at the can:

I sort of like this BRG, and it's a correct colour for a 1968 S1 Europa.

I like BRG just fine. Kinda fond of the darker blue though. And if'n it ain't gonna be red, then I reckon I'd vote blue...

The Colour sure has a weird flip to it, in certain lights it looks like a Renault Alpine... weird

Call me conservative (as in Red Tory?), but I am always in favour of OEM stock colours. That BRG is very pukkah.

Sigh, I was afraid someone would say just that as I feel the very same way. More sleepless nights ahead for me.

Let's face it, it would cause you physical pain to come around a corner and see your Europa in any colour other than OEM. You would end up getting it repainted.

The first thing I will do is apply to Lotus to see if they have any record of the original colour and proceed from there.

Humm....your scooters aren't OEM (well one is but you had no choice there)....just thought I'd throw that in.

Good point, Angelo!
But a scooter is so much smaller... and almost no scooters survive decades without a repaint --

It would be interesting to know what the original colour was.

I don't remember all the colours I found while taking it apart but there was orange, green, blue and, almost certainly the original colour, red. Therein lies the dilemma, I have worked on so many frick'n red sports cars, I couldn't bear owning one. And, as John has so wisely pointed out, men of certain age shouldn't drive red sports cars -- at least not and be taken seriously.

Which, channelling Julie Andrews, bring us back to do(ugh), as in it is going to cost a freak'n fortune to paint this thing so I had better get it right the first time!

I'm back to dark blue.

It's the Model T principle in reverse: any colour so long as it's not pitiful-old- man's red!
