Sunday garage workshop

Met up with Raz, Marrisa and Paul today. Marrisas' small frame had a shifting problem. Only one gear seemed to be available. We took a look at the gear selector and cables and the problem was soon found. One of the nipple screws had somehow twisted right around 180 degrees. (i think the previous own...

Shannon, if your ordering inners and outers then get all 5. (the whole set) Clutch, front brake, rear brake, throttle and 2x gear cables. (a choke cable might be in there too) so maybe 6 cables. Clutch is usually the one that breaks. (I have found) If ya just want to carry minimum to get by till a r...

does your existing trickle charger have amp settings?

10amp/5amp/2amp/1amp ? or something like that.

If you end up buying a new one, make sure it has the smart electronics in it.

Shannon, What kind of trickle charger? i think you need to watch some trickle chargers as they supply a charge current 100% of the time while on. I think they can cook/boil off you battery if left on too long. The electronics in the battery tenders shut off the charge current when not needed thus sa...

I seem to remember classic-vespas.com being run out of Florida. I think they imported "restored" vespas from the asias. If ya can find the original frame number and engine number we should be able to trace down what actual model it is. http://scooterhelp.com/serial/ves.serial.numbers.html ...

I've seen a share of bikes on the road way up here in Grande Prairie these past couple of days.

I'd say go for it, just be mindful of the gravel boys and girls.

Empire didn't do the greatest when they painted it. I think they must have messed up the hardener when they did it. I don't know enough of the process to know for sure. I have weekend access to a paint booth now that i share shop space. I'm sure i could talk Ryan into let us use it if we play nice a...

Penetrating oil shouldn't hurt. If its partially rounded I've been sometimes lucky placing a rubber band between the screw and driver. The little bit of extra grip is sometimes just enough. If its really stripped a screw extractor should be helpful. On one occasion I've drilled a shallow pilot hole ...

I think the rates for bikes only went up this year or maybe late last year.

Dad was complaining in the spring that his rates went up basically 10 fold.

Hopefully they come to their senses soon.
