Picked up the panels to do some work on the paint. If the rest of the bike comes up like these did, its going to be a pretty solid look I think.
Wash & dry to remove all surface dirt and detritus. Original paint surface took cutting paste to remove dead paint. Followed by three coats of wax polishing out each coat in turn c by redbike2013, on Flickr

It actually didn't take that long - about an hour or so for both panels.
Start by washing all of the junk off. I used warm water, and dishwashing detergent and a soft scrubbing brush. Took my time with the soap so that all of the crud got loosened. Dry them thoroughly.
I chose the cheapest stuff - Turtle Polishing Compound - about a fiver at Canadian Bun. This stuff can be applied with a rotary polisher, but it was plenty easy doing it by hand. Apply the stuff in small areas and work that area before moving on. Apply, rub, polish, have a look, repeat as necessary. you buff out between each application.
Finished off with Finish 2001, which I had kicking around. Et voila!

New Casa Lambretta Seat Cover

Installed. Seat is comfortable, but I'm going to order the plastic push button cover for the release mechanism inside the seat - pressure area is too limited for an easy open of the seat. It's also not quite straight, but neither is bike or rider. Scraped off old paint on rear marque and resprayed it in white. Looks fine.
Am off to the mountains for the weekend - happy riding everyone.
If I have correctly understood our fearless leader, and assuming some willing participants, I think its another wrenching session on the Jet 200 this weekend.
What I don't know is if this will be Saturday or Sunday.
To be accomplished is to replace the drive side seals and bearings, add new motor mounts and replace fuel tap and all cables.
I would also like to offer a wrap up barbeque to all and sundry following this marathon. So, we'll get some clarification on date and time and I will follow up with a general invitation to all for the barbeque, chez nous in Highlands (hey, seems to me there's a nice ride or two in the Highlands area...)
