HELP please

Post by Luzzara »

Hey so after working at the scooter shop for 5 years, I really didn't learn much about doing anything mechanical myself. And today I understand why I should have.

Scooter died in the safeway parking lot 3 blocks from my house.

The spark plug is dead i think, I am getting my good old dad to grab me one today, but I'm wonder if someone could talk me though how to change it, the videos online suck.

PS. I want to host a big ride night in September, I was either thinking Sept 27th or October 4th. Would one of those nights work for you guys.

Hey Sarah. Are you at work today? If (and I mean IF) it is the sparkplug, I am almost (and I mean...) qualified to help change it. I could swing by Leva after work today. John

I'm off Friday morning for a short week in Jasper. If it is still out when I get back, I would be glad to help out.

Be very careful if checking for spark. If the spark plug wire is off when the engine is cranked and the wire end is not close to ground, the resulting voltage spike can fry the Cdi box. To check for spark use another spark plug, hook the ignition wire to it, hold the plug against the metal of the engine case and then crank while watching for spark.

Wire was fine at the spark plug end, but had completely separated from the sheathing at the other end. I stuck it back in enough to get spark and it started. Sarah was headed straight home, two blocks. Much preferable than changing the plug, btw. It is so tight in there I think you would have to drop the motor to get it out. No room to get the wrench in there!

Crude City Mobile Service strikes again! Sorry I could not help; work is heating up, and my leg and foot are still sore (I was cut off Monday and crashed a motorcycle).

Looking forward to that event, Sarah--

The spark plug wire screws into the Cdi box, just twist it until it feels "home".

I have special spark plug sockets designed for working around engine headers. Even with the sockets, it's tight work.
