hey...i'm so excited i could...well...anyway.
so after we won the 50 special, ig and i called the guy in ontario to talk
about payment, shipping, etc. turns out that the 1961 VBB 150 had not
been bid on. this bike is restored (less work for igor...yay!!!) and has
more guts than the 50 so we asked if we could buy the VBB instead and
the guy agreed. so, hopefully in a couple of weeks i'll be "testing" out a
sweet sparkly blue vintage vespa. i never thought i'd be so happy about
this, but i guess it's glorified shopping and i usually get really excited
about that.
so that makes six motorized vehicles for us (not including the lawnmower
or power tools). hahaha...we're losers.

yes...same issues with shipping. we're looking at a few hundred dollars
but need to figure out how to get a crate around it first. we've started
toying with the idea of driving to tdot for a summer holiday (i grew up
there). my friends have agreed to keep it in their garage until we figure
out a plan. i've talked to motoretta and it looks like they gave the guy
who bought the $11,000 scooter a deal on the shipping...go figure.
we'll get out here eventually...it would be fun to drive it back ourselves...
i think a little outing around lake superior would be fun...
i'll keep you posted.

Fun THIS time of year; I did the drive one time years ago during the winter months. Was bringing back a f^&* truck (Camaro) for the Wheatons that they'd bought at auction in TO. NOT so much fun then. Hit a bad storm past the Soux. Add night, bad traction and driver fatigue and it was not a fun experience. Scenery around the lakehead, however, would be spectacular in the summer months. How about a one way drive, rent a hauler for the return, then ride as time/weather/condition of bike allows?
Johnny Redbike.
