Vespa lx 150 won't start

Post by haveaniceday11 »

Was taking a nice cruise this morning. Tried to start the Vespa again and just makes a clicking noise :( won't start now. Any ideas. My husband says probably the starter or spark plug but we have no idea.
Any advice is grateful. Thanks.

Stranded in North Edmonton. lol.

Sounds like the battery is either toast or not being charged. Batteries get old and also easily fail if not stored properly. The charging system regulator is also a common failure and then the battery slowly goes dead.

You can try "jumping" your scoot using jumper cables.

I think John is right (like usual of course). On my LX when the battery is getting old and/or not holding a good charge anymore I get that clicking sound. I put it on the battery charger for a bit and it will start fine again. I find the battery needs to be replaced on the LX about every 3-4 years. They are about $40-50 at Battery World.

Thanks guys. I tried boosting the battery and didn't seem to work. I'll have to get a new battery and see if that's the solution. It has been about four years since so might be right.

Depending on the battery, you might be able to top it up with distilled water and bring in back to life with the night on a trickle charger if you have been charging it in the off season. But yes, four years is a long time and hopefully it got its love.

How did it go?

I'm back now and most of my external scooter repairs are done. If it's not solved, I can come and have a look.
