the fustrations of wrenching....

Post by jaelee »

so as many of you you i'm trying to get my 100 sport up to the point where i can inspected. When i got the scoot it came in boxes i started piecing it together and it was all completed but the electrical...in florida no one really cares as long as you have a headlight, brake light and tail light. my friend machined down a px200 stator plate with a cdi and ran minimal wiring to make it "legal" and that was that. So i move to edmonton and this is where the nightmare begins....so i order to pass the out of province inspection i needed to wire in blinkers so i thought the easiest way to do this is to re wire the stator plate and turn the px200e stator into a p200e stator and use the wiring harness from a p200e available from scooter works. in theory this sounds simple, plug and play.....not so.....it has been a minor nightmare. first i ended up seizing the polini kit i had on there due to a plug problem. thank god that John had a "spare" malossi kit.

then, i noticed that the spark is very weak...ugh....the magnets on the flywheel were so weak that is barely produced any spark...ok that was replaced. now everything i back together and running fine but....more wiring gremilins show up....the scoot keeps popping fuses and now the headlight doesn't turn on.....it seems that this scoot is possessed by the devil and refuses to co operate.......

so why am i writing this? i just had to vent and i'll look at it another time. i'll probably just convert it to a pk/px ac electrical system and go from there, which means more suppliers are going to be getting more of my scratch... :(
