Too much of a good thing can be wonderful

Post by jbcollier »

I got to the shop a wee bit early to turn on the heat and get things set up. Next in the door was Graham with his engine in hand, well two actually; and, wonderful chap that he is, a dozen Tim Horton's muffins and coffee. Smiles all around and we get started. A few minutes later and in comes David and he has, wonderful chap that he is, a dozen Tim Horton's doughnuts and coffee. Woo Hoo! Now we're cooking with gas. A few chuckles and smiles and back to work. Fifteen minutes further along and in the door comes Audrey with, wonderful chapette that she is, a dozen Tim Horton's doughnuts and coffee!

Yup, four people, 36 treats and three litres of coffee. I think the club needs a doughnut coordinator!

Graham's engine came apart quickly and looked pretty darn fine inside. Gaskets, seals, three bearings, piston rings, cruciform and first and second gears should about do it. The bore still had the cross hatching and the standard piston looked fine. Good news I think.

We then retired to Tra Amici where I had a chinotto, club house panini and exchanged the latest gossip with Sabine. Let me tell you, that girl can tell a story.

Damn fine day I'd say!

oh...and i need to, once again, express my enthusiasm for modrey's potential roller derby name (i'm such a sucker for a well-played literary reference!).

we'll be on snowboards next weekend with my family in kelowna so hope to see you on valentine's day!
