So in the hunt for a name for my green bike (those of you who have issues with naming machines, keep them to yourselves please) I have settled on Sybil. Initially I was going to go with Harley because the damn thing spent more time on the truck than on the road. Sybil is a reference to the movie about a girl with multiple personalities, which seemed to fit the bike dead on.
But now I think I may have been hasty. I am starting to lean towards Christine, from the book by Stephen King. Not because the bike is possessed or demonic (fingers crossed) but because the more I drive it, the less it feels like a 31 year old bike. Leaks have started to slow. Gaskets and seals are actually working. It starts easier and idles and runs better. The terrifying rattle and vibration at speed has all but disappeared and the sticking throttle and shifter have been rectified. Owner intervention on those last ones. Hell, even the front brake is starting to work. The bike is aging backwards as the odometer increases.
Little things are making huge positive differences. ie Putting all the caps and grommets on the airbox that weren't there when I got the bike so I didn't know they existed. They do and it helps...a lot...when they are in place.
I don't even feel the need to carry a cell phone every time I get on the bike. It's probably setting me up for a fall. Something Christine, or Sybil would certainly do.
Keep em shiny kids.

I've found you should name anything with a personality.coyoteran wrote:(those of you who have issues with naming machines, keep them to yourselves please)
