Workshop on Shannon's ET4 wanna-be tomorrow

Post by jbcollier »

Sorry for the late notice but everything came together at the last moment. I'll be doing a service on Shannon's scoot tomorrow, Sunday May 1, 10 am at my HOUSE not my work place. My lift is at my house and my back can't take much floor work in the morning.

I live at 8620 Saskatchewan Drive. It is in the small group of houses precariously perched atop the bank just west of the university traffic circle at the junction of Groat Rd and 87 Ave. Please google map it if you have never been before as it is a bit tricky to find the first time.

Made it home safe and sound. The scoot runs like a dream. Thanks again!

It all went very well until I dropped the accell pump check valve spring! We searched for quite a while and I eventually had to make one out of a ball point pen spring.

The idle mixture isn't leaning out properly. It was set to two turns out and was running ridiculously rich. It ran best all the way in but I left it a half turn out for propriety's sake. We'll have to do a carb overhaul at the next service and see if we can find out why it's so rich at idle.

Shannon picked up some BBQ paint for the exhaust so no more rust there.

Thank goodness Sabine showed up and straightened us out on a few issues we were having. Her small hands were very useful in a few tight spots!

All in all, another fine time.

Would have loved to watch that. Been sick and didn't check the site.

I'm thinking I need to do a bunch of stuff to the Vino - rollers, belt, throttle cable…

I'm not sure how long that all takes - is this a weekend project, or will I be off the road for a while?

Parts and tools in hand, two to three hours.

Parts and tools in hand plus doughnuts and Chinotto, three to four hours.

Parts and tools in hand plus a case of beer, several days.

PS: Look at your maintenance schedule in your owner's manual. It will tell you what's required for the mileage of your scoot.

it shouldn't take that long...only a couple of hours just make sure that you have the proper tools and an impact wrench will make things a lot faster and easier

Thanks again John!!! I had the scoot out today and it ran like a dream. I even managed to hit 100km/hr without having it at full throttle. (There was a wind behind me that helped a bit. )
