Winter storage

Post by joehenke »

I have been storing my Vespa in an unheated attached garages over the winter. It is dry but does get cold but because it is attached and insulated the temperature changes is somewhat reduced compared to the outside. This year I am thinking of storing the Vespa in a metal shed. Still dry and sheltered but no insulation to moderate temperature.

Should I be concerned. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

If your bike is 4 stroke, get some Fuel stabilizer. If your bike has a battery get a trickle charger. Cheaper than labour for a new battery in the spring.

Fill the tank, this will prevent tank rust.

My garage is unheated, uninsulated and dry. Most likely not much different than the shed your thinking of. The only thing that comes to mind is your floor. Is it stable enough for a scoot all winter? (will it tip over?)

In my defense I am building the shed now.

Make the shed bigger than you think you'll need. Scooters have a way of multiplying.

Already done, never mind scooters I have children's yard toys - they seem to follow some kind of exponential reproductive schedule

Remember 100sqft is the limit in Edmonton without a permit.

My kids toys sit outside. Dad's toys inside! :D
