Sadness in Calgary

Post by Sowelu »

So, I took my scoot in for it's OPI while I was in Calgary and guess what ... it failed. The shock seal faild and there was no dampening. A quick call to Ron at Vespa Kelowna and it looks like the problem will be solved shortly. He is going to look into getting the part for me so that it can be replaced in Edmonton.

Now comes the hard part ... HELP.... can anyone replace the part for me cheaply. Ron has advised that it is about a 15 minute process that anyone with mechanical skills can fix (Hint ... Angelo, Kevin and Bruce) and he would even be willing to talk you through the process over the phone.

All I need is for this part to be replaced and I will be able to pass the OPI and get plates on my scoot.

Can anyone help out????? I'll be leaving Calgary tomorrow to drop the scoot off in Sherwood Park and will be back to Edmonton next Friday day to start my motorcyle course.

I would be forever greatful to whom ever (Hint Angelo, Kevin or Bruce) could help me out. Ron is hoping to have the part to me next week.

Shannon

P.S. Angelo, Torrie thinks this might be a great refreasher for you before you start rebuilding your Lammy. :D

It just so happens that next Saturday I sould have most of the day to myself. I would be willing to try and help with perhaps a litle help from someone else. My expertise unfortuneatly lie's with machines that are 40 years or older. Let me know and I will do my best.

Cheers

You guys rock!!!! How can I get the scoot to you guys on Saturday. I'm in my riding course from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm. The bike will be stored in Sherwood Park and unfortuneately, the super transportation for my bike I got this weekend will not be available next weekend. The bike however, is being stored in a empty garage with lots of room to work in. If you come to Sherwood Park I'll supply the beer or beverages of your choice and pizza.

Shannon

Again, you guys rock!!

Shannon,

If Ron has instructions, get him to email you and then pass it on to us. This way if we have any questions we can ask before Saturday. It will probably be best to do the work where your scooter is. Find out if we need a spring compressor or some weird tool.

Angelo

P.S I have time in the morning, afternoon and evening is no good for me, funny how plans can change in less than 24hrs, but hopefully we should get you on the road soon.

Whew! We made it back to Edmonton without a hitch. My scoot is now resting comfortably at her new home in Sherwood Park.

Thanks for all the offers to fix the bike. I really appreciate it! I got to ride is for a few seconds today. :D (When I say ride, I rode it up the driveway into the garage and park it, but that was enough to make me anxious and giddy about getting on the road soon.)

Ron is looking in to the part for me and will get back to me on Monday, once he has tracked it down. When he contacts me I'll ask him to email or fax the directions to fix the seal. He seems to think I could probably fix it on my own, but he would feel better if I had someone who knew more about scoots and could help me out should it all go south. (I think he has more faith in my mechanical abilities than I do. ) Once I know when the part will be in, I can then arrange a time to meet to get it installed.

Soon to be riding:

I am smoking busy right now so I will not toss my hat into the ring. However, I will pass on one word of advice. Work first, beer later. Trust me. Startling things come to pass when you do it the other way round.

It looks like I will have to reschedule the minor repair to my scoot until next week. The last I heard was that the part has not arrived at Vespa Kelowna and Ron was unsure of a delivery date. I'm hoping the part arrives in St. Paul or Edmonton next week so that I can get the repair done quickly. Then it's off for another OPI and hopefully registration on the same weekend so that I can start riding. It's unfair to see the scoot sitting in a garage and not being able to ride it yet. Talk about teasing someone.

Bruce I can now relate to your frustration regarding your scoot and not being able to ride it.

Thanks again for all the offers of help with the scoot. I will let you know when the part arrives so that we can better schedule a "repair" party.

I feel your pain 10 fold. Sigh. My scoot looks so pretty and yet it has this great big zone of do not touch. It's painful to think about how nice it's suppose to be this weekend and my scoot is locked in a garage. sigh

Hopefull our pain will be eased soon.
