Looking for a vespa or two!

Post by erinedwards »

Hello! I am looking for some assistance. I am contracted to Northlands to help build their new Capital Ex exhibit, Rhythms of the World. In this exhibit, which takes over Hall C at Northlands, we are featuring the cultures of six communities. One of them is the Italian community. We are showcasing many different aspects of the community including design, language, food, clothing, transportation and sport. We would love to feature a Vespa display!

I wonder if any one would be interested in supplying a Vespa to put on display. I am also looking for information of Vespas. We would of course identify your club in the exhibit with a sign.

I am available via email me at erinedwards@hotmail.ca. I am also reachable via phone- 780.497.1511.

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Hi Erin,

Just keeping it on-list so everyone can see your answers.

Are you looking for vintage Italian scooters? Perhaps celebrating Italy's strong design aesthetic?

Or, are you looking for modern Vespa's, to showcase Italy's current exports.

When, and for how long, will the exhibit be?

Will our scooters be reasonably "safe"?

(Some parents, otherwise charming I'm sure, are not particularly attentive and let their sticky, belt-buckle-equipped children run amuck. Not a cheering sight after a two-hundred hour, nut and bolt restoration.)

Cheers,

Hello! Thanks so much for getting back to me. I think it would be fantastic to have a vintage and new scooter together, to celebrate both the design aspect and the modern export.

The exhibit will be July 20-29. It is in Hall C of the Expo Centre at Northlands. I am double checking on this but I believe we have dedicated security for our exhibit. We would use stanchions to keep the sticky kids and curious adults away! We are also hoping to have an Alpha Romeo on hand and this will be positioned similarly.

Let me know what you think. If you'd like to meet or chat further, I can be reached via erinedwards@hotmail.ca.

We're also working on re-energizing the Capital Ex parade, so if you are so inclined, we'd love to have you participate in that as well!

Looking forward to talking more about this. Thanks!

OOOOHHH, I like that last part. Everyone loves a parade! Erin, are you the Erin Edwards that helps out with DWW? I'd be happy to lend mine for the exhibit. Its a red Vespa GTS 250ie, so its a modern one.

Offer stands even if you're a different Erin Edwards!

Vespas at Capital Ex- a capital idea!

Hello! I'm having such a time posting replies! I am THAT Erin Edwards. No dogs recently but VERY fond memories of Azov and Mavis in particular.

I'm sorry for the delay in replying, I swore I replied a couple of weeks ago but something must have gone terribly wrong!

I would LOVE to have your vespa in the exhibit. I would also love to have vespas in the parade, if there were a group interested! We'd love to have vespas heading down the streets with Italian tunes blasting from the speakers. Please contact me again if you're still interested- erin@tbjpartners.com or 780.497.1511.

THANK YOU!
