Spring cleaning of Vespa.

Post by haveaniceday11 »

Hi guys.
Just pulled out my LX150 Vespa. Finally!
Took out the battery this winter and put a conditioner in the fuel so it wouldn't go bad. Put it battery back in and the Vespa started alright. Drove around the block and then came back and when I came to a stop it just turned off.
Checked oil and it seems ok but maybe needs a little more? But now won't start. Any suggestions?

I had a similar challenge with my scooter. Does your scooter have power, but won't start? If so, have you tried changing the spark plug?

Always start with the plug as suggested. Sounds to me like a plugged idle jet. It starts on the "starting" carb (auto choke) but won't run when warmer (auto choke off). You could try running fuel treatment and go for a long ride with no stops. I recommend sea foam.

If it was mine, I would just drain the tank, put in fresh fuel, pull the carb and blow out the jets in the carb.
