Oil filter for lx 150

Post by haveaniceday11 »

Hello everyone! Getting ready to bring out my Vespa. But need to do an oil change first. Does anyone know if I can buy an oil filter for my lx 150 in Edmonton. Or do I need to order it online. It's my first time changing the filter so I have no clue. Thanks everyone!
Also if I have to search for it what would part be called or the part number. Thanks and look forward to riding with you guys

The Vespa dealer (Alberta Cycle 97 St just north of the Yellowhead) has them, albeit at a somewhat elevated price. You can order them cheaper from Scooterwest.com though then you'll have to add shipping, duties, etc. Best to order when you have other stuff to order as well, or can tag along with another order.

Your engine uses barely a litre of oil so it has to be good-quality, synthetic oil. I recommend and use Mobil 1 0W-40. Canadian Tire has it.

John, I am just guessing but do you think my filter would be the same or similar enough to fit? (Derbi 2003-yes I know, manual needed). I need to change it as well-Mina, if you are ordering parts I don't mind going in if I end up needing both a filter and brake pads etc.

It should be the same as it's the same engine. However, not everything is the same from a Derbi to a Vespa: different size of wheels, etc.

Okay, Thank you Sir! I plan to dig out the manual I ordered online this weekend and take a look at how to do an oil change. First four-stroke so my best idea is based on when I used to change car oil, and given my attack on Shannon's scooter with the gear oil, my derbi may be doomed lol. If you don't see me for a few months I am still under the scooter, covered in oil like a soggy bird in a tailings pond.

Scooter Love

Post by rbielby »

Hi John and "the others". I am going to do my oil change-hopefully Saturday but I don't think that I have enough experience to figure out the front end clunking while braking, my guesses are nothing more than guesses and I am hesitant to muck around on my own.

Wondering if anyone would be willing to offer it a little love and take a spin on the thing/or take a look at any point down the road and give your overall impression of the bike, and any pressing needs it has for scooter love.

Sir John, if your up for it one day and still ok with it I would love to take you up on the offer and drop on by.

Willing to pay in slave labor, coffee or tea, donuts, fake green bucks or real cold hard cash. (In fact there was a debit card processor found in the river valley the other day, we can process my card all day if you like as long as it remains unplugged).

My son has three or four soccer games this weekend. I can do early Saturday morning or an as yet unknown time on Sunday.

Ok, if your okay with Saturday am, I will pop by but if you get too busy it can certainly wait. Soccer duty trumps scooters says I, although if you drive him to soccer on a scooter you would be the coolest dad in the world, "or not"-as my daughter says.

I have to have James to his first game near Harry Ainlay for 11:30. How about you be at my house for 9?
