Help

Post by Sowelu »

On the way home today, my scoot developed a gas leak. I've found the leak, but I'm not sure how to repair it.

The leak is at a clamp on the fuel hose where it joins up with some piece of the engine. (Not sure what it is ... yes I know, I should learn the engine parts.) It only leaks when I stop while the scoot is running. Otherwise, there is no leak when the bike is on the kick or standing still. I only discovered the leak, because the drive in the car next to me pointed it out at one of the red lights. (There was lots of fuel on my muffler when I looked at it at the red light.)

If I can't fix it myself tonight, I'm not sure I'll be able to make the ride tomorrow as I went through 1/2 tank just to get home.

Nevermind. I fixed it ...

After futher investigation I realized that the hose had cracked right where the clamp was. So I cut off the damaged end of the hose and reattached it with a new clamp from our AWESOME 8 ball rally packs.

Thanks John for thinking of putting those clamps in the rally packs, they saved the day for me today.

Now if this was a rally, I think I would have needed to use a rock and several "gloves" to reattach the hose like Paget did with his muffler in Kelowna last year.

See everyone tomorrow for our ride.

Excellent! Another pair of handy hands.

There is no satisfaction as great as healing a wounded machine. It was broken and you made it better!

You should set yourself up as scooter evangelist. Bring me your sick and wounded and, for a modest, non-refunadable fee, I will make them better.
