CCSC's Participation in the 2008 Toy Run

Post by jbcollier »

This Sunday Sept. 28, the CCSC will be attending the start and the finish of the 2008 Toy Run. However, we will not be joining the main ride but going on our own route. The main ride is often slow with lots creeping along waiting to clear intersections. As well, the standards are not particularly high with regard to rider etiquette (i.e. too many near misses in past years).

The main ride starts at the Capilano Mall parking lot at 11 am (50 St & 101 Ave). I would suggest that we get there by 9:30 or, let me say that some of us should get there by then to stake out our turf. Join us when you can.

Our ride will be:

North on 50 St
Tour the Gold Bar Park parking lot
Back to 106 St
Gretzky Drive north
118 Ave east
Abbottsfield Rd
Rundle Golf Club
Rundle Park (stop)
113 Ave west
30 St south
104 Ave west
Ada Blvd
76 St north
Borden Park (stop)
112 Ave west
82 St south
Jasper St west
109 St and over the High Level Bridge
Down Walterdale Hill
River Valley Rd west
Groat Rd south
Finish at Mayfair Park (Hawrlak for you newbies)

You should bring a toy or a monetary donation. No giant teddy bears unless they are your usual riding partner. More info here:

Please RVSP to this thread so I have a rough idea of how much space to save at Capilano. Any volunteers to meet there early and help save space? I'll buy the coffee!

Like I mentioned in the other thread I won't be attending due to inventory at work all weekend... Huge pain in the ass, not to mention bad timing. Thanks for the invite regardless, but you won't need to save a spot for me. :(

Hey John,
I'm there. What time are you leaving your place? I can meet you and ride with you.
Cheers

I will be coming, but how will I know where to find the group? Will it be like bike night at Petro where there's always a five foot radius of open space around the scooters? I can come early as well.

Cheers

Two scenarios:

Either meet at my house at 9 AM and ride to Capilano, or

Meet at Tra Amici at 8:45 and have a coffee first.

I checked and Tra Amici opens at 8 on Sunday. If we decide to meet there first, I will double, double check it.

If we meet at Tra Amici we will never make it in time. I'm just thinking scooter time, it never is on time. The last couple of years we have made some pretty grand entrances but we were definetaly close to the last ones to arrive. I think we we meet at Tra Amici that 8.45 should still be the time to leave....my 2 lire

Today I double, double checked that Tra Amici would be open early on Sunday and it will be. So, 8:30 AM it is for those of you who wish to. The crazy-early-risers will save space for the rest at Capilano.

Only one problem, there doesn't seem to be anyone else coming except the crazy-early-risers! Please let us know if you are coming so we can save enough space!!

ummm..... errrrr..... I'm 90% sure I'm going to be there. If I'm going to be able to make it, I will meet you guys at TA at 8:30. Geez, I must be crazy to get up that early on a day I could sleep in.

Jeez people!!

You do not have to be there early!

You are welcome to be there early; heck, we would be delighted to see you. However the whole idea is for a few, brave, albeit some what deranged, people to get there early and save space for the rest.

So sleep in if you want to. I get up early anyway.

Ditto. Sleeping in for me on the weekend is 6.00am
