Spruce Grove 90

Post by Andrew »

Dude in Spruce Grove has reposted his Vespa 90 for $1800:
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicl ... Z399264320

Bike ran well, but needs front brake desperately-- as in MAJOR fade.

And headlight and speedo, of course...

I can't remember why no one bought this bike. Can someone refresh my memory.

Thanks

If you are interested, we can go check it out. It's a US model with the left side compartment for a battery. It is not from the 60s. You would want to verify the year as 73-ish and up require signals to pass an OPI.

Would it be worth the trip John?

And can it be made to go faster than it can as a 90cc?

We can make it as fast as you like. I would recommend a similar engine to Gill's. The 90 already has a long stroke crank so add a Polini 135 top end, pipe and a 19/19 carb for a reliable scoot that will top out at 80 - 90 no problem.

Yay!!! So yes, I'm interested in going out and taking a look at it and would love to have you come along. Let me know what times work best for you and I will contact the seller in Spruce Grove to set up a time to take a look at the scoot.

Thanks for you help John!

I'm waiting for my son's new soccer schedule to be posted. I also have David's crank seal change to schedule as well. Once I know the soccer game time, I'll be able to sort who, what, where and when.

I've heard the chap can be difficult to pin down (ask Andrew).

Thanks John!

I seem to remember Andrew saying something about that in the summer. Ah well, I can be persistent when needed.

Spruce Grove 90

I rode it and it ran great. $2000 seemed like a lot for a late, non-collectible little bike with a three-speed tranny and insufficient power for the 60 kph+ speeds on Edmonton's arterial roads. But it's a nice little bike, probably worth $1500 anyway, and as John says, could be made into a faster, better runner with not too much trouble. My interest was the Serveta, which was rougher and did not run great; and I thought the 90 was too small for a taller or heavier guy...

My son's soccer game is in the early afternoon so working on David's engine won't work out this Sunday. I could slip out to look at the 90 either early Sunday morning or later in the afternoon. Let me know if either works out.

Darn it .... I forgot about that.

John either time works for me as I'm spending the weekend working on report cards and will probably need a break. Let me know what times are best for you so I have a few choices to use when I contact the seller.
