Cue The Godfather theme music. A darkened garage with John sitting behind a moodily lit work bench. Angelo is standing over his right shoulder, idly slapping the head of a torque wrench into his opposite hand, sporting a look of bored malevolence, in sharp contrast to Johns calm, almost parental, demeanor. "Andrew, do you remember that one small thing I did for you last summer. Well the time has come for me to ask a small thing of you. You can do this for me can't you Andrew." His words, although friendly, offer no hint of the task at hand but also leave no room for misinterpretation and even less room to say no. "Of course Johnfather" gulps Andrew. "What is it you would have me do?"......The Godfather theme has done a slow fade, silence magnifies the tension as a track from The Who abruptly cuts in and raises to a crescendo in the background. cut to commercial. hehehehe

Keep em shiny kids.

Very apt, Trevor. It's Mob Week on AMC. I'm watching GF part III right now.

I understand. You found paradise with a new scooter, you had a good time, you had good rides. The dealer looked after you and there was the warranty. You didn't need a friend like me. But, now you come to me, and you say: "John, fix my scooter." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Mr. Collier. Instead, you come into my house on a busy day, and you ask me to do repairs for money.

More seriously, I have been paid back many times. My goodness the place was simply crawling with club members when I went to check out the Lotus. And there was no lack when I had to haul it home either: lots of helping hands and Kevin even provided a trailer!

I'm very grateful for all your friendships and your help in the past, and future.

Great club, great people!

That being the case, I have a stone in my shoe that only you can remove for me, Johnfather. It is a delicate matter that perhaps I can shed some LIGHT on if you will agree to give me an audience.

Braking Badly -- Beyond the Scooterdrome

Post by Andrew »

The Johnfather, with a shaved head, driving .... yes, a Pontiac Aztek!

Angelo, with the heavy torque wrench...

Audrey: "Where do you THINK I'm going to nail on that horseshoe?"

Johnny Redbrake: 'We'll just see about that traffic violation!'

Etc...

Or maybe, for the two-strokers, "REEDS", a new drama about ordinary people who do extraordinary thing to get by ... the rest of the traffic.

It is a great club! Let's ride this weekend -- any appetite for a longer route up along the river east of Fort Saskatch out to the Scotford site (speaking of the apocalypse) and back?

I know of a scenic route (well, 80%) out that way. Beautiful, quiet secondary road, with a few curves, and some elevation change. Yes, here in the prairies!

Not really a route, just in behind the Fort Saskatchewan museum and up along the river as far as the Scotford plant. What about you, Dave? Yours sounded better than that.

What time do we want to meet up, and where? 10:00 at the Italian Centre?

That sounds like river road, very nice. We could link both routes together.
I'm not getting the feeling that there is much interest in a long ride for tomorrow. Maybe another time might be better???
