Distinguished Gentleman's Ride
Hey there,
Some friends and I are hosting this year's Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Edmonton on September 28th and I wanted to post it here.
As we all know, few subcultures of motorcycling are more well dressed and fashionable than scooterists. We would love to have some of you come out and enjoy the day with us dressed in your finest and showing off your scoot. The ride will be short and in the city, so don't worry about having to hit freeway speeds.
For more info you have to register at www.gentlemansride.com
Thanks!

Seriously, are we interested? The toy run has far too many motorcycles to actually have a pleasurable run. This ride sounds like the goods: probably around 50 participants (including ourselves), good cause and we get to meet another group of people with questionable tastes in mounts ;-)
I'm in. If anyone else from the club chimes in, I'll bring a scoot (SS or D). Otherwise I'll bring the Duck.

We don't do the Toy Run ride - even on motorcycles. There's just too many people - I'm not good with mass rides. Last mass ride was 250 people, didn't feel safe. One of my fellow riders from Women In The Wind Club had a very serious near fatal accident after the toy run one year.
I would recommend going on our OWN Gentleman's ride perhaps end up at the park - arrive at 11am? when they are just leaving Capilano so we make sure to get parking. There's lots of other riders doing just that too.
OR Depart from the park as a Gentleman's ride…? Covering all the community bases

Well, we didn't actually join the ride. One participant crashed on the way there (on dry roads?), one had a near miss in the parking lot and, most, of the scooterists decided to wave enthusiastically. So we stayed and enjoyed a good meal -- a really good meal, actually. We then road over to a friend's place and had a look at some of his Lotuses. I have some shots on film and hope to get it developed and scanned soonish.
