Club workshops

Post by jbcollier »

Hi Everyone,

I have a bit of bad news in that my back is playing up big time. I remain hopeful that I will be able to get it "back inline" but time will tell. I can get around and sitting is no problem but I have to avoid all lifting and lying down is simply unbearable -- which is why I am typing this at 3 in the morning.

All this to say that I will need help at the next workshop, and that the next workshop may not be at work -- I can hardly go there for a workshop if I'm not showing up for work during the week. Also, those of you who were hoping for my help in projects and maintenance yet unknown to me will have to be patient.

I have three jobs left to do, and, appearing in order of priority, they are:

1) Shannon's engine overhaul and cable fit.

Thankfully mostly done. A wee bit left on assembling the engine and then we can put it back in place. I will need help with lifting the engine up onto the bench and lifting the assembled engine back into place, etc.

2) Paul's harness replacement in a VBB with a P150 engine. I'll need help with pulling the new harness in. Thankfully I have a scooter lift so I can move the scoot up and down rather than myself.

3) Replace the head gasket on Andrew's Triumph oil-in-frame twin. Should be straight forward -- Hah! Famous last words. Again thank goodness for the lift but I will need a people to wiggle things in and out.

When is the next workshop? Good question. The next one is scheduled for Sunday April 12. However, it now looks like I'll not be in shape to go to Victoria for spring break so perhaps sooner than expected. I'll keep you posted.

If anyone knows of a new, or lightly used, lower back...

Oh no John! That sucks about your back. Hopefully it will get better soon and you can enjoy life pain free.

I'm pretty sure I can do the lifting of the stuff for my scoot and can help out with lifting of other things for various other workshops.

Thank you again for all the help you have given me with Tiki. It is very much appreciated.

Ouch!

The Triumph is not exactly a rush job. Maybe later in April...

Rest that back!

Look after yourself John.

We're always happy to grunt with supervision.

If it helps at all, you are welcome to borrow my inversion table.

Sorry to hear John. Aside from my messed up kids making me busy from time to time, I have a good back and can help lift anything you need when needed, and will save me from going to the gym an extra day.
