Nudder Workshop Sunday 29th

Post by jbcollier »

There will be a scooter workshop this Sunday, 1 p.m. at my work (12116 - 121a St.). We will be carrying on the good work with John's Serveta, changing the oil in John's 250 and having a peek at the rollers, etc in David's S150.

Helpers, gawkers and mockers all welcome.

Thanks to everyone who came. Without your help we wouldn't have gotten nearly as much done.

David,

Let me know if it starts "chuddering" again. If it stays well behaved, I have an idea what the problem was.

Parts update: Order from Jet200 should be here this week. The seat cover just arrived at Originali, so that order, minus the shorty rack, is leaving New Jersey today. This order also contains the cable set.

Wheels look not bad with a couple of coats from the rattle can. Woot!

Pulled the rear drum off, sanded the shoes and lubed the cam. All ready for the tires.

You're the best! I brought a couple of the painted rims by your shop this afternoon - no one around.

What would work best to remove old oil and road detritus from the engine/rear/shock area? I'm thinking an engine cleaning rattle can followed by a stiff flush with pressure washer. Work?

Sorry, I had two meetings this afternoon. One for the CL and the other with more bad news regarding my reno. All the new siding has "oil canning" and can't be used. As this is the second batch, they're not willing to order another. So now we have to figure something else out!

Easy with the power washer as it will push water past seals, into protective boots, etc.

Use an "engine degreaser" applied liberally, let it soak in and wash off with hot water. Stubborn spots can be attacked with brake clean and stainless steel bristle brushes.

So far so good, no "chuddering" and the starter engages every time thanks to the lubrication.

John has his new tires, so we may see a "new" Lambretta out and about town :D

I think the "chuddering" was due to the variator pulley sticking on it's slide. I put a barest wipe of lube on it.

Tires are on and John went for a ride... came back two hours later with a grin on his face. %$@£!! I was worried the whole time!

A great example of having a professional doing the job; even when they say "I didn't do anything" they unconsciously manage to do something.
Thanks agian John!!!

Glad that you were able to ride your Serveta John W. Hope to see you out this weekend. Was that you honking at me Downtown while out on your two hour ride? I could hear the unmistakable sound of a scooter horn, but couldn't see one :?
