Damn well about time

Post by coyoteran »

Hi all.

So I finally got a chance to resume my scooter commute today. Rode the P200 twenty miles through the city this AM to work. When I left the house it was +2. By the time I got to work 45 minutes later it was +11. Weird weird climate.

The bike started and ran well but I think the battery is on its last legs. Blinker is only good for 7 or 8 flashes before it goes out and has to be recharged over a couple of blocks of hi rpm riding.

Keep em shiny kids.

Sooo Jealous. I have been tinkering, that's about all. I have this Itch and that I can't scratch. No dry pavement for awhile

Check the electrolyte levels in the battery cells first. If low, top up with distilled water.

This reminds me of when my brother would call from Victoria to announce the tulips were blooming, usually also in February.

Yeah, that's on the spring tune up list. Just haven't got around to it.

As to the gloating about the weather thing. You can all have you revenge next fall/winter/spring when I am hanging my hat it balmy (barmy?) Moose Jaw Saskatchewan Canada. That is where they tentatively have me slated to go in July.

Should be interesting, and by interesting I mean "As sleepy as hell"

Keep em shiny everybody.

oh, and the tulips started sprouting in the second week of Jan. I expect a bloom any day now.

Yeah, it will be good to be back. The 306 is actually home for us with Charlene from Saskatoon and me from Nipawin, way up north. 23 Years in SK and only 17 in AB. Still a couple of Saskatchewanites by default.

We used to go camping at Lake Diefenbaker every summer when we lived in Morinville and now that drive is only 90 minutes. Edmonton is a little over 7 hours and Calgary is a little over six. I see myself getting to know those roads fairly well.

Will be a crazy crazy summer though. If I find myself pointed in your general direction up there I will let you know.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go check out my battery because I plan on riding my Vespa to work tomorrow.

Probably still here. Posting dates usually aren't until mid July to mid August. Why?

There's some wishful thinking about Lammy Jammy.

Well if that's the case you know I am always open to having guests. But you also know I will spend the hours cracking wise about Lambrettas. I am not ashamed to admit that my hospitality comes at a price. :). It is an easily bearable and funloving price though so please, take advantage of it.

To revive an older thread in light of burgeoning plans.... aren't you going to beg, borrow or steal (I know that buying would cause arrhythmia) a Lammy to join in the fun?

There are no plans for me to join you guys in Lammy Jammy shenanigans. I will probably check out the show and shine just to ogle the hardware but that will be the extent of my involvement.

But like I told JBC, I will get enough enjoyment out of listening to you guys curse the skies as you try to kickstart your already reticent scooters to life at 7000 ft ASL.

Another hint, bring an O2 bottle. It's at a premium here.

I'm trusting our fearless leader and head wrench will be able to re-jet for sublime performance in Alpine elevations. Actually, I've been reading the threads on the LCUSA site about what people are using for jetting in CS. Starting to get excited about the trip and hope we can pull it off!

We'll need smaller jets alright. I'm not sure the ones I have fit the SH carbs on later Lammies. I'll check when I get home. I'll need multiples for sure though it is extremely unlikely our three scoots will all require the same jet.

"I run a 100 in my SX with a stock pipe. Bring a range, 98 to 104." - The best sounding advice I read on LCUSA, posted by Adam who lives in CS. This post was from last year, when they had an evening set aside at Sportique to get everyone running right.
