Bought me a Vespa…

Post by Macgyyver »

A bit beat up 2006 LX150… but I'm used to beat up! REPHRASE! (An imperfect paint job with a few character blemishes!) First owner was an older gent of a certain nationality who had some …challenges. Guy I bought it from made some…modifications. Will have to spend some shop time to figure it out! All new to me…it's not a 2-stroke! The Vino demands so little ;-)

Guess I paid the dude's insurance last year, but for $1500… ?

I'll mod the seat, fix whatever this hunk of emissions equipment he hacked out, and maybe sticker-fy/paint the boo-boos. At least the rusty ones! And keep the Vino for backup/fun runs DT.

Here's the pic: http://instagram.com/p/esIiDdQCCi/ yes, it's blah silver, rust … & scratches

:D well, I was wondering if you have time at the shop to look it over, and what the rate is? (Gotta support the boss…)

How about I put you next inline after David's BMW and my Europa's gone to the paint shop? Then I'll have space for you to bring it over to my house. We can get it up on the lift and then leave votive offerings and hope the gods have mercy.

How many klicks on it?

Unless his forehead was unusually low, it should be fairly easy to get it back in fine fettle.

It looks like the last guy took out the fuel evaporator unit. We think we have all the parts to replace it if required. I've never had an issue with mine so I'm not sure if it better to replace it or leave it off.

A few other bits and pieces seem to be missing like the battery cover but nothing too important that we see so far. It runs great. Just had an abusive former owner. Lots of dings and road rash.

I snorted - good one!

Thanks John. We have the back rack, so even after the snow flies, we're good. I'm in absolutely no rush… I have the Vino.

It sounds like all you need is a quick oil change and a once over. We could do that Sunday morning early. Get a filter, I have have the oil.

Monica is in Calgary until next week. I could bring the scooter over but she might want to do it when she is around to learn from the pro.

Hi John! Thanks for the offer! but like Paul said, I wont be back until sometime Tuesday. I'd love to be there… gotta learn it!

Last owner said he changed oils … (bike guy w/2 modern 1 vintage plus a restored international pickup) so it might not be too bad. Or, it could if the original owner never did… will look!

Discovered the side reflectors had been scrubbed off. As it would happen, Paul the smart guy happened to have a couple salvage spares from Top Gear close-out shopping e can swap out.
