Das Flurries Ein Commen

Post by jbcollier »

First flurry forecast is for this Sunday -- long way out yet for accuracy. Still, I hope you're riding NOW as it is wonderful riding weather, albeit a bit chilly in the morning. Strangely, I'm riding every day now while I hardly rode 200 km the whole summer.

Nein! Die Flurries verboten!!!

Riding to work every morning while I still can. It's chilly, but worth it for thenice views of Fish Creek Provincial Park as the sun comes up. I even got up close (but not THAT close) with a young deer crossing the street in front of me the other day near the park. Gotta love (and dodge) them critters!

Cheers,
Brad

I've been riding to work even though I could walk, and it would be better for me (physically) to walk. But it's much better for me in every other sense to ride...

I have been watching Sunday's weather, hoping against hope that it will change for the better. Well, it changed, but for the worse! The high's now forecast to be O°C.

Friday is civi day for us. No uniform required but I wear a sports coat and I don't have a suitable overcoat so even though it was plus 3 this A.M. I didn't ride.

Turns out that was a good thing because the ride home would have been into the teeth of a 70kph wind. Damn prairies. Damn winter. Damn.

I have an overnight low of 0°C and then the temperature falling to -4°C during the day. They also call for 2 cm of snow though I doubt it will stick.

I'm busy in the morning and might be persuaded into an late morning/ early afternoon jaunt. It all depends on the snow...

The streets are clear in my part of town. I'm game to ride around noon or 1:00. Anyone else?

I'm stuck with family stuff and I just can't get enthused. Four months from now, I'll be hooting, hollering and running around naked if it gets to -5°, but, right now, I'm wimping out...

There is no shame in whimping out. There is something to be said for staying warm, relaxing, and spending time with the family. :)

Enjoy staying warm.

Well, as they say, discretion is the better part of valour. Am gearing up to go check the alley and see how slippery it looks. But might also just 'discretion out'.

Well, I wimped out yesterday, but rode to work this morning. I don't think I have ever ridden that far below zero before. It was bracing, to say the least -- but exhilarating too! My fingers were icy even in padded gloves, and the visor was a necessity but also a bother. Join the Frozen Chosen! Ride sub-zero!
