Hi all, noticed last couple weeks no one has been around at wild earth-you all must have more of a life than I! Just wanted your thoughts on a braking problem that developed overnight-right hand break. I will go through my service manual to see if it helps as well when I have sometime but would like any input. So I realize the right is always more sensitive as controls front wheel I believe, however it overnight became very firm, difficult to compress, and when braking somewhat jerks my stopping and makes braking somewhat uneasy, however the bike is still stopping fine though I have to use two different pressures on each brakes-I sprayed some wd40 into the handle area, looked for anything seemingly catching the line, cuts in the line, did not see naything when I loosened the steering area, but did not go far in as did not want to compound the problem.....Will check the service manual for suggestions but figured someone may be in the kow....
Cable-I think in the hand brake, mind you there is break fluid so maybe I am wrong and it must be hydraulic. No I have never been to your house but if your open to me popping by one day that would be grand-let me know what your drinking- I thought you were still out on the sunny coast.....
Nope, I'm back but am busting my butt getting the yard ready for my daughter's engagement party this weekend. Laid out 20 bags of mulch this morning and going for another 20 right away. So I'm more than a bit busy but I could take a quick look today or tomorrow. Ping me at:
Pleading insanity. So my brake problem continued so I decided to take the upper hand and between the service manual and youtube managed to successfully mess up my scooter, probably permanently, which I guess means I will be peddle bike it to work unless gas prices fall. So I figured I would try to bleed the lines, and apparently took off the wrong piece not the value so then the stiff brake had no pressure, after the wise folks of you tube cleared that up for me and I tried to syphon out the old fluid out of the right value (press lever tighen valve, release valve press lever type thing) and nothing happened I unhooked all the cables trying to shop vac the fluid/air out, some fluid came out but assumingly air would then replace that so I am assuming that was a mistake as well. My neighbour jack of all trades (who's background is in submarines not scooters!) suggested it could be the master cylinder so off to Alberta Cycle I go but for the length of time to import the thing even if they could find the right piece which with them is hit and miss, and the $300 price tag for the piece my $800 scooter is looking like it won't see the road anymore at this rate, at least not this year. John/anyone have any ideas? Obviously it's no longer rideable so can't bring it by. If anyone thinks they could fix it for a better price than Alberta Cycle wants to charge just to laugh at it please feel free to give me a ring or respond. 780 757 5763. If nothing else, I will at least hopefully loose some weight riding my peddle bike and won't need to upgrade to anything over a 50cc as I will be much lighter therefore any bike will carry me like the wind (always think positive right!) Happy scootering folks!
