Engine rebuild workshop

Post by jbcollier »

Hi Everyone,

Graham has his parts now so we are going to put his engine back together this Sunday (Feb 21). We'll do the work at my work place starting at 9 AM. The shop is located at 8737 - 53 Ave, call my cell if you have trouble finding it (sixsixeight-twelveseventy). With a bit of luck, we should be wrapped up by 1ish and we can then slide on up to Lazzara's for coffee/lunch. Lazzara's is located inside Top Gear on Whyte Ave just west of 100 St.

Easy on the doughnuts please!

Agreed, I think a measured amount of doughnuts and cinnamon buns are in order. I've got it covered-with icing???

Graham's engine is back together and everything was pretty straight forward aside of the usual doughnut mix up. At least we got the pastry number below thirty!

We also had a look at Al's BMW top end and decided it needs rings and the heads redone.

I got there early and worked a bit on the D engine. Crank is in and I can start on setting up the upper bevel set. I have an order coming in from Italy this week and should be able to finish up the drive bevel set after that. Still waiting on Casa for clutch and kickstart parts.

I am not too happy with the crank as it has a chromed rod! Polishing is good as it removes any risers that could lead to stress cracks. Chroming is stupid beyond belief as it makes the surface of the rod brittle encouraging stress cracks! Oi Vey!! It's not really an issue as this will not be a high rev engine but, duh, what the hell were they thinking?
